[for Todoroki, Sunday mornings and afternoons used to be filled with traversing the public transit of Musutafu to visit his mother in the hospital and now finally he can again. he's been looking forward to this day for... longer than he cares to admit, since the entirety of his days off have been taken up by the provisional license make-up course. in more than one letter, he's rehashed the date of this specific Sunday that he'd finally get to see her again, circled on a calendar at his desk and planned into his cell phone, when he could bring his victory and accomplishment back to her.]
[and it's what he expected. "absence makes the heart grow fonder" didn't take for him the first time; he never understood it because it was too seeped in abandonment and guilt — but now, with their relationship on the mend, he's surprised by how long their tight hug lasts, how excitedly she engages in his stories (perhaps especially because he leaves the ones about his old man out), how much more light there seems to be from a countenance that had once seemed so withering.]
[it soothes something in him that he can't name. there's not enough emotional awareness in him to give it words — but by the time he says his goodbyes and closes the door to her room behind him, there's a light smile on his features and a warmth that touches his eyes as he pauses there, feeling content.]
[he moves on, as he must. barely gets around a corner before he thinks he hears a familiar voice catching his ear, stopping him in his tracks. there's a pause before he seeks it out, following a few more meters until the hall opens up and he finds the source:]
Yaoyorozu.

Perhaps it's because she feels somewhat guilty. Kaminari, Ashido, and a few others often ask her for help over homework every Sunday. But lately, she's taken to turning them down ("My apologies... Mother has, ah, called for me to visit today") so that she can instead spend her time here.
It's not just about the warm feeling of being able to help someone, though of course it's there. All this time, she's taken to using her Quirk for combat—a staff, cannon, capture nets, the likes. But here, she's able to use it in a less-destructive manner. To use it for healing.
It's... a nice change of pace, is all.
And so, a few seconds before Todoroki finds her, she was waving at a child and his parents as they leave the hospital, in the middle of bidding them goodbye.]
–works out well! Don't forget to check it during the course of the week to see if adjustments are still needed!
[She keeps waving for a few more seconds even after they're gone, then places a hand on her chest with an accomplished huff. While today was a bit tougher than usual, it was definitely worth it. Her moment is gone when she hears a familiar voice, however. Quickly whipping her head back, thus confirming what she was thinking, she manages a flustered:]
To– Todo– Todoroki-san! What are you doing here?!

[and, well, she's always been ambitious. competent with it too, not just an vague goal with too much passion behind it like their classmates (like him); he's seen it in her before, watched it play out as he observed from afar but for the few times he was forced to be thrust into her limelight.]
[like now.]
There's someone I know staying here for a while.
['a while'. like it hasn't been ten years. like he isn't sure if it'll be another ten. his hands slip into his pockets, expression carefully blank, turning that mismatched gaze the direction he'd watched her wave, that he'd heard other voices being threaded with the hope and determination she needles into everyone around her.]
Volunteering? That sounds like you.

[After the initial flustered response, Momo can at least be proud to say that she's able to gather herself just as quick. There's no need for such a reaction, truly. It's not as if Todoroki's the type to tease or make her uncomfortable about a sudden unlikely meeting.
Besides, she's occupied enough trying to make out his terse explanation of his being here. Was he visiting a family or a friend, perhaps? For a while, he says, as vague as it can get. She isn't one to pry—at least not as shamelessly as asking him upfront—hence she settles for a polite response for now.]
I see. I wish for their steady recovery. It's a good hospital though, as far as I've seen, so you have nothing to worry about. I'm sure your visit has been much appreciated as well.
[His latter comment, however, makes her blink in surprise before a hand raises to her cheek as if trying to contain the small rush of pride that gave her.]
Ah... Does it really? Admittedly I've only been coming here for a month, and I don't think I've gotten to do much yet. I'm supposed to only assist to senior staff initially, but I've inadvertently gotten myself more involved when the nature of my quirk came to light...
[It was a bit overwhelming at first, too, getting so many questions about it. But overall, it has led to many good opportunities and practice, so she's pleased. Realizing that that may not have come across with her earlier tone, she quickly attempts to backtrack.]
I-I don't mind it, of course! That wasn't a complaint at all. If anything, it's quite a fortunate development.
[She ends it there, if only as precaution against rambling, and regards him again with a smile.]
Will you be heading back to the dorms then, Todoroki-san? I'm done with my duties here as well, although I think I'll be staying out a bit longer. If you think we'd need anything back at the dorms though, I can pick it up for us, too.
